Fred Neasham, a graduate from the MS-GIST program in 2011, will begin a new career January 2013 as a Project Manager with Leica GeoSystems - Mining Division.  He will be leading their support team providing software and hardware installations worldwide.

Jen Dvorsky, a 2012 graduate from the Master's of Science in Geographic Information Systems Technology (MS-GIST), was hired by the City of Prescott, Arizona as a GIS Specialist. She will begin her new job January, 2013.  Congratulations Jen!

Smaran Harihar will begin working for ESRI's JavaScript team in January 2013.  He graduated in 2012 with a Master's of Science in Geographic Information Systems Technology at the University of Arizona.  His Master's Project focused on creating  the web interface for the USAdapt website, a webGIS tool for climate change impact analysis. Sara Sillars, of the MS-GIST 2012 program, accepted a GIS Analyst position with Pacific Gas & Electric in San Ramon, CA beginning in December of 2012. She will work with a team of GIS professionals to help PG&E transition information from several databases into their new Intrepid system. While performing this transition, the team will continue to produce GIS products related to pipeline and electricity transmission line data.

Casey Kahn-Thornbrugh, A PhD Candidate, has won the 2012 Graduate Centennial Achievement Award.  According to the Graduate College website, these awards “recognize outstanding achievement and contributions of minority graduate students at the University of Arizona. Awards are given to two students working in a master's degree program and two students working at the doctoral level during the current academic year.”
