Kudos to Doctoral Candidate Kira Harris
Monday
On behalf of Dr. Kevin J. Anchukaitis:
Dear colleagues,
Kudos and congratulations to Kira Harris, who today passed her comprehensive exams and is now a Doctoral candidate in Geography! For 3 hours this morning and into the afternoon Kira discussed with her committee an incredibly wide range of topics --from the climatology of western North America, to stable isotope geochemistry and the chemotaxonomy of semi-arid plant communities, to the biogeography and ecohydrology of mesquite species, to epistemology and different approaches to research and the value and meaning of physical archives in paleoenvironmental research. I’m grateful to Kira’s committee Jessica Tierney (Geosciences, SGDE affiliate), Dan Ferguson (Environmental Science and AIR, SGDE affiliate _and_ alumnus), and Greg Barron-Gafford (SGDE) for an engaging and wide-ranging exam and their ongoing support and mentorship of Kira.
Congratulations, Kira!
cheers,
Kevin
