Angie Malone

Hello! My name is Angie Malone. I am a born and raised Native Tucsonian with a great passion for food. I have loved to cook since I was a child, and being here at the university has only taught me that passion can go so much further than a stove. I am studying here at the University of Arizona for a bachelor's in Food Studies, and a minor in Law. During my time here at the university, I have chosen a pathway in my career to advocate for those who are being taken advantage of and harmed by the current Global Food Regime. 

The Global Food Regime is currently in a Corporate state. However, this state has brought ease, diversity, and comfort for consumers worldwide, behind that ease is a history of institutional racism, gentrification, a demolishment of food sovereignty, and an endless push for land grabs. As a scholar, I want to bring my support to the voices of those who are being harmed by the current global food system. As the Intern-Representative for the Food Studies Major, I will take this opportunity to spread awareness about the food studies major and what it represents. I will also share the great passion many souls have put into creating this major for scholars.
