The School of Geography, Development and Environment lost a valued alumni, Professor Bonham Richardson in November 2020.  He went to high school in Tucson and graduated from the University with a BA in Geography in 1957.  He earned an MA and PhD in Geography from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and went on to teach at California State University at San Bernardino and Rutgers University until he joined the Geography Department at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech).  After retirement he spent some years in Tucson before moving to State College, PA to be near his family.  He was a cultural geographer who focused on the Caribbean and its experience of colonialism.  His best known book was his 1992 masterpiece: The Caribbean in the Wider World, 1492–1992: A Regional Geography.  His obituary can be found here:
