The School of Geography, Development and Environment (SGDE) invites you to join us in honoring Professor Diana Liverman on the occasion of her retirement from the University of Arizona.

Please join us on Friday, May 6, 2022 for a special colloquium and reception from 3:00-6:00 p.m. (PST) in room S107 of the ENR2 Building, 1064 E. Lowell Street, on the UA main campus.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Karen O'Brien, University of Oslo
Dr. O’Brien is Professor of Sociology and Geography at the University of Oslo, recognized for her work on climate and society, including vulnerability, adaptation and climate impacts. Her books include Climate and Society: Transforming the Future and Double Exposure: Assessing the Impacts of Climate Change Within the Context of Economic Globalization, both coauthored with Robin Leichenko and You Matter More Than You Think: Quantum Social Change for a Thriving World. A coordinating lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Karen is the new co-chair of the Transformative Change Assessment of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). She was one of Diana’s first doctoral students.
A panel discussion will follow featuring Diana’s former students and/or postdocs Dr. Robin Leichenko, Dr. Maria Carmen Lemos, Dr. Megan Mills Novoa, Dr. Margaret Wilder, and others.
