Paula Denise Decker has received the prestigious Marshall Foundation Dissertation-Fellowship for final-phase dissertation support. In addition to a $10,788 stipend beginning in Spring 2013 from the Louise F. Marshall Foundation, each student will receive a tuition scholarship for two semesters from the UA Graduate College.

Audra El Vilaly, Mindy Butterworth & Mona Arora have an article accepted in Progress in Physical Geography.  The article, titled "Climate, Environment, and Disease: The Case of Rift Valley Fever," is co-authored by Audra, Mindy, Mona, Arid Lands colleague Abd salam El Vilaly, SGD alum Billy Jarnigan, and Andrew Comrie.

Marion Constante, an alumni from the Masters of Science in Geographic Information Systems Technology (2011), has  accepted a job with the Fairfax County Park Authority in Virginia.  She will be a GIS Technician but the work is equal to that of a GIS Specialist. Marion will be working with the Archaeology field crew and lab staff to design and implement GIS projects and analysis in support of the mission to understand and interpret the cultural heritage of Fairfax County.  The job begins... Tawny Lochner, a graduate from the Masters of Science in Geographic Information Systems Technology in 2012, has been promoted to an Analyst of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).  As an employee of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences Technical Services, Tawny now oversees GIS technologies and is an ESRI site licenses representatives for the University of Arizona.  This could possibly be the first designated GIS position at the University of Arizona.
