The Institute of the Environment website recently had a lead item featuring the work of many geographers—a special issue on the METRICS OF WATER SECURITY AND ADAPTIVE CAPACITY.  The result of the two-year project is a special issue on Metrics, guest edited by Gregg Garfin, Margaret Wilder, and Robert Merideth, and published online in Current Opinion in Environmental Sustainability, comprised of 14 articles by 37 authors in 12 countries.

Congratulations to Emilie Schur who has been awarded a travel grant by the Conference of Latin Americanist Geographers (CLAG) to attend the upcoming international meeting in New Orleans. Emilie will present her thesis research on water (in)security in Palomas, Chihuahua (US-Mexico border). Way to go, Emilie!!

Daoqin Tong was award the Geoffrey Hewings Award for distinguished contributions to Regional Science research by young scholars at the North American Regional Science Association conference in Minneapolis last week!  We, of course, recognized her contributions long before NARS, but our hearty congratulations go to her for this recognition by the community of her peers.
